Since I've been ice skating more serious the last couple of years I wanted a certain pair of skates called "Nordic skates". These skates have a soft and lightweight boot and clip-on blades. They are very suitable for longer distances in the outdoors, because they give you support and are designed to handle cracks, bumps and snow covered ice. These skates are a lot better than the ones I had before, but they are also quite expensive. Because of the price I've always been reluctant to buy them. However, my birthday was a couple of weeks ago and Fenneke arranged the skates for me together with our parents and brothers and sister. Needless to say I was very pleased! I immediately went to my favorite ice skating store (Jan van der Hoorn at Ter Aar) where I bought the skates. The staff there is very friendly and knowledgeable and helped me with my choice. I ended up buying the Salomon RS Carbon shoe with the Free Skate Allround blade. I can't wait to try out my new skates in the ice rink which will open in two weeks!
